Karen Short
Karen started playing netball at school and then whilst working in London played for fun in the City. Karen offered her support at Spire Reds when Helen started the club in 2013 as her daughters joined. Karen holds Level 1 and Level 2 UKCC netball coaching qualifications. Karen holds first aid, safeguarding children and enhanced DBS certificates. She has undertaken an ‘in-to’ umpiring course. Karen coached a successful U15 performance squad who come 2nd in the Hampshire County league unfortunately the team’s success was curtailed due to Covid-19. You’ll often find Karen with a speaker; she enjoys bringing dance music to her sessions (and is well known to get the girls squatting to "Bring Sally Up" - beware!) . She loves building rapport with the girls and has been known to get quite competitive on the side-line! Spire Reds has provided Karen with an opportunity to play netball with her 2 daughters who have both enjoyed being part of the club. Karen works full time for a local international children charity, in the fundraising team. The netball coaching qualifications have developed her appreciation of different learning styles and importance of teamwork. She feels proud to be part of the Spires journey and would encourage any parent to become involved with the club. |

Alice Levett
Alice has played netball since primary school, and initially hated it! Happily, her PE teacher forced her into it because she was so tall! Since then she has not looked back. Her first experience of real performance netball was playing for Hull Uni 1sts and for Chevrons Northern League team. Then she moved over to Middlesbrough to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy and continued to play competitively there. Alice moved to Salisbury in April 2021 and joined Spires and has since started to coach and is now working towards qualification. She loves working with the other coaches to push the performance side of the club at all levels, with the end goal being to put a senior team into the Southern Regional League and push the younger talent to ensure the future of the club. As a physio, her areas of interest are Respiratory and Musculoskeletal, and she loves working with the girls on S&C, injury prevention and rehabilitation. |
